The son of Clyde and Edna (Henry) Boyd, he was born January 6, 1935 in Fredericktown.  At age 16, Tom began delivering and spreading lime for local farmers.  While in school he’d work evenings at Westinghouse while playing on the Fredericktown football team.  He was graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1953.  A few years later he married Jacquelyn “Jackie” McCready on April 23, 1955 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville. Tom served in the United States Naval Reserve.  Enlisting in 1952, he was honorably discharged in 1960. His work ethic second to none, for 60 years, Tom along with his sons operated Boyd Bros Trucking and B&B Farm Service.  Often working six days a week and on little sleep, Tom understood success wouldn’t be freely given. Every summer, Tom and his entire family would vacation at Myrtle Beach.  Either relaxing in the sand watching his grandchildren play or out-shooting his grandsons during a round of golf, he was content being surrounded by the ones he loved most. His children’s and grandchildren’s #1 fan, Tom never missed a sporting event.  Supportive and loving, he was always available for advice and encouragement. Tom was a 55 year member of the Thrall #170 F&AM Fredericktown Masonic Lodge as well as St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife Jackie Boyd of Bellville; four children Jim (Lisa) Boyd of Bellville, Barbara (Mike) Hoover of Bellville, Jennifer (Steve) Gower of Butler, and Tom Boyd, II of Bellville; nine grandchildren James (Amanda) Boyd, Preston (Amberly) Boyd, Austin Boyd, Adrianne Hoover, Rich (Jessica) Hoover, Justin (Amy) Gower, Jameson Gower, Trey and Sydney Boyd; great grandchildren Rowen, Nora, Forrest, Jace, and Gannon; siblings Lois (Bruce) Boyce of New Jersey and Betty (Livio) Caroli of New York; sisters-in-law Barbara (Carl) Noblet, Janet (Ray) Loch, Kathy (Norman) Beal, Karen (Bob) Pasheilich, and Pat Goss; special nephew Doug Leedy along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Richard Boyd. The family received friends Friday, January 22, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services were held Saturday at 11 am.  Pastor Doug Pretorius officiated and burial  followed in Bellville Cemetery.
